Querida Amiga,
Hola,
¿Como estas? Hoy es miércoles.
Hace frio en Nueva York. No me gusta el frio.
Me gusta el verano. Mi cumpleaños es el 20 de junio y me gusta el tiempo calor.
¿Qué tiempo hace en Chile? ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños? ¿Cuántos años tienes tu? Escribes en español o en inglés?
Escríbeme pronto.
Ciao,
Chabela

FINAL EXAM WRITING PRACTICE:
Here are some examples of letters that are usually found on the final exam:
1- You are going to Spain to meet your pen pal at the airport – give a description of yourself so that your host family can recognize you.
2- You are organizing a party and are going to ask your friend to help out and bring some items.
3- You have been invited to the movies with your new Spanish friends – write a note asking your Spanish mother permission to go.
4- You are not going to be in Spanish class this afternoon and need to write a note to your teacher to let her know why.
5- You are writing a thank you letter to your Spanish family for a birthday gift that they got you.
6- You are describing your town/community to your new Spanish pen pal and are mentioning some things that you like to do in Spanish.
7- You are writing about your vacation that you just took to your Spanish pen pal.
8- You are writing about your favorite activities, foods, clothing, and classes to your pen pal.
9- You are describing your house/room to your Spanish pen pal.
10- You are writing a note to your Spanish mother explaining why you are late for dinner.
SOME USEFUL WORDS TO USE IN YOUR LETTER:
Lo siento mucho
No puedo
Tengo que irme
Necesito
Me gusta(n)
Puedo ir
Gracias
Por favor
Yo soy
Mi casa/escuela / comunidad es…
Yo estoy muy enfermo
WORD COUNT OF BOTH LETTERS MUST BE OVER 40 words – that is roughly 6 sentences. Don’t forget the date to write out, a greeting to write out, a quick hello/ how are you and a goodbye to write out. Use y tu? Whenever you can and also write out yo even when you may not speak it . For example, instead of saying voy (I go) write yo voy (I go) and you get 2 words instead of 1. You can memorize about 20 words that will go on every letter, but you must be able to come up with about 15 words on your own about each different subject. Use words similar to English if you forget (for instance me gusta la pizza) the name of a food, etc.
